Compression requires Buyware
The compression challenge requires you to buy a $30 piece of software to solve. I just think that this is a little unfair

I've just completed it under Linux (Ubuntu). The StuffIt part is definitely the hardest -- I ended up downloading a free StuffIt trial package for Windows and installing it under Wine.
All the rest of the required tools are either already there in a reasonable default GNU/Linux installation or can be pulled easily out of the distribution repository.
At least I can be sure that I won't be missing any decompression tool now that I've done this challenge ;-)

No, you don't. At the very most you need to download two programs (on a Windows machine), and since it is very unlikely that you don't have any unpacker at all on your computer, you can probably get away with just ONE download. For some file formats, there are also online tools to convert/unpack them - no need to download anything in that case.Guderian wrote:ok this is the most stupid challenge by far. you need to install 10 crappy programs that will be used just once.
