Could anyone point me in the right direction of some Captcha/Character Recognition software/tutorials? I don't have any experience with image processing... would someone be able recommend some prerequisite reading?

Now why would you EVER do that?! It isn't like everyone here says that is one of the first ways to look for information.

What infinite wisdom you have...

Let's hope this doesn't deter someone with experience in image recognition from giving a response.

The only response you are going to get is to do your own research. Perhaps if you'd bother to look through those search results you would find what you are looking for. You can try this too.
