Surely Smallester Mouse

Post by ElleXuzZ »

Hey guys,

this one still bugs me...

Could you give me a small hint?

Did you store the largest value on the stack or in the memory or did you keep a counter for the largest one?

If I understand well what others have written, at least two of mentioned approaches work.

Wow, congrats to the fourth solver of the 19 instruction variant.

And since it is a mouse challenge, it is dangermouse who solved it! How appropriate.

OK, now when I know both solutions (and nobody mentioned he knows third), I should withdraw what I have written.

In my proof the 21 instructions are needed, I made a wrong assumption ... removal of the assumption reduced code length by 2, but a slight complication increased the length back by 1.

(It took me more than one year to find the wrong assumption ... of course of only seldom thoughts.)

Actually seems all 19 instruction solutions have success probability far away from 1
(while there are two 20 instruction solutions with success probability 1).

And that is precisely why they should not be accepted as correct solutions. The fact that there are measurements against spamming the server with solutions until one is accepted proves this.

I don't know what went into adum when he created this one. Maybe he had a beer too many on that day.

Hippo, you are very close to the final solution! remember that the world's nature is probabilistic, not deterministic. ciao :-)

I bet I would be much close :) to the solution with my old operating systém.
I have updated to win10 and they chose to restart on its own will.
I have put the code to the scheduller and it was not invoked after restart.
... i must reconfigure it...

Congrats to the fifth solver. I am trying already almost half a year and no success yet ...

Seems till I solve it I would be one and half year from the solution.

Hmm, I am surely past the expected value and still trying ... actually not yet.
