Flash Flood Warmup difficulty

Post by avrrobot »

Hello,

Is it intention that Flash Flood Warmup is a 10 while Deluge is a 55 and Flash Flood is even 75?
And if so, why?

What is the meaning of those numbers? (10, 55, 75)
Points per task? If so, from where have you taken them?

Theyre from the challenge overview from m!nus, but the difficulties are also used to rank everyone here.
Its the difficultiy of a challenge, from 0 being very easy to 100 being almost unsolvable.

Wow, nice script :) I haven't seen it before.
Some other tasks are badly rated too (IMO), e.g. "Didactic Scrambled Egg Cipher Warmup" (55) and "Didactic Scrambled Egg Cipher Pre-Warmup" (55) - the second one is in my opinion a way harder.
But it's not a serious problem for me ;)

What if there's an easy way to solve the warmup?

Youre right, as the picture is static there. (I didnt thought of this :D )
For myself, i just used the code from the previous challenge with 99+ instead of 88+.

To be quite honest, the ranking system on hacker.org is rather nonsensical anyway.

Just don't care about it and enjoy the challenges. :)

If we don't have a ranking system, how will we know that we're better than other people? I want to know this information![/sarcasm]

I'm not sure what adum was thinking when he implemented the ranking system here, but even good men can go wrong. ;)
