Duke Box

Post by smutley »

Hello,

I have identified 14 out of the 20 songs. Can I solve it with this, or do I need all of them? Am I even on the right way?

Cheers

I've identified all of the songs but still don't know what to do with the song titles or artists.
Maybe the answer is hiding somewhere else...

@smutley: I'm afraid that you need more, but it should be enough to figure out the cipher.

@efe: there's a hint in the metadata.

Sounds like a fun challenge. Where can it be found?

Hmmmm... I have solved Maeda Path, but there is no challenge with the name "Blue Skies, Green Grass" on my map :(
Could you please tell me the challenge ID, so I could try to visit it manually?

That's because this link actually goes from "Blue skies" to "Maeda path" and not vice versa. You need to solve "Descartes" to get to "Blue skies, green grass".

ENGLISH

Hello at all,

It is my first message here. I am french, so I'm sorry for my poor english. I am going to give the same message in my maternal langage at the end of this message. Perhaps it could help someone who is ok with french langage.

I had enjoy with this challenge !!! But, to my mind, there are some mistakes with a few of songs.
I'll don't say how, for no spoiling.
I think that the 5th song, 8th song and the 11th song are not right. (One song only miss for me : the 15th).
To my mind :
- add 2 for the 5th
- add 1 to the 8th
- add 1 to the 11th

Can anyone tell me what is the 15th ?

Thank you at all, hacker.org is a very great place on the web !!!

A mon avis :

There's also the "Challenges Solved" board, where you won't spoil challenges. because those who read it have solved it already.

125 challenges in just 3 weeks seems quite successful. Keep on!

stuck

Post by kaste »

I found 18.5 songs with a fair degree of certainty. So far i tried correlating years of release, interpreter, titles, occurrences of common lines, positions in the rolling stones top 500 list, soundtracks, composers, snippet length. None of these gave me something i could really work with.

Am i anywhere near the right track? I have followed more leads on this one than any other challenge and i am starting to get confused if i may have been blind and have already tried the right ansatz, but done it wrong.

EDIT: Removed spoilers

I've recognized all of the songs and I know the method for decoding, but some letters after the middle don't create any meaningful word :/ I've tried everything, now I'm guessing the third word using google, without success. Can you hint me what I'm doing wrong? (PM me if you don't want to spoil too much on the forum).

Thanks in advance!

--- EDIT ---
Solved :) Thanks to michuber for help.
If you have everything, but the answer doesn't make sense, try to 'increment' some letters.
