Nice one :) ImageMagic did most of the job and prooved my inital idea to be correct.

UPDATE:
Oh, it's a unique pixel! The answer was something like third object I
tried as an answer and guessed.

Me, too. Convert to ppm, create histogram in Java, sort in Excel. Oh, well...

I did have one question, though: someone in the "Challenges" forum claimed to have found the original. Where is it? I spent a lot of time looking for it online but never could.

I think the image file for this challenge was taken from Open Street Map, several years ago. So it would very probably look different today.
