So I want 3DSMax...

Post by Zaffron »

...and I want to torrent it. You always hear about all the busts of people being charged several thousand for stealing some crappy song or something like that. Is it likely I could get busted for getting 3dsmax via torrent?

I don't have 5000 bucks handy >.>

It's possible but if you keep it on the low down, you likely wont have a problem. Remember: "Leave no evidence!"

They are generally more concerned with the distributor rather than the consumer.

So it would be a safe(r) bet to get it off of piratebay since they have so many users?

here is example of what i would do...

1. Proxy - slow but safe....
2. Don't be a idiot...- examine the names make sure it is what it is!
3. Virus SCAN- So many "hackers" posting fake files with terrible computer fuckers
4. Google- those user-names can be found on google (if they have them up)
5. Look at all methods... and watch out for "hackers" trying to turn you in....

The odds of you getting caught applying any kind of "stealth" techniques are greater than the odds of you getting in trouble for downloading a torrent IMO

Yeah, the only thing he needs to refrain from is redistributing it for monetary gain
