Old school DOS...

Post by plope0726 »

So I recently got my hands on a copy of DOS 6.0 and am running it in Virtual Box...Talk about a time warp. Brings back fond memories (ofcourse I was like 10)...Anyhow, does anyone here have experience with setting an internet connection in DOS? Outside of cmd with windows, my experience with DOS is limited to playing gorillaz back in the day(well not that limited) Anyhow some input on this topic would be great...

DOS is what CMD emulates. Before Windows there was DOS. I think up until Windows XP (or may ME) Windows was just a graphical shell on top of DOS. Now the CMD in XP and Vista, is similar to using terminal in linux when runing in GNOME or KDE. So DOS is like the command line in linux.

...apart from the fact that the linux shell is roughly five umptisquiddlyzillion times more powerful than the DOS command line. ;-)

Oh and yes, Windows ME was the last one to be a thinly disguised DOS.
