There exist another method for playing it easier: Just follow the direct link http://www.hacker.org/challenge/misc/maeda.swf, then press the "F11"-key for maximizing the screen. Now you get much more "room" for your mouse :-) But only half as funny as the "play"-context...

Take a look at the Pixels - programmatically...

@m!nus: adum did not change the image. It is correct and has to be trasformed - not modified.

Not easy to give hints without showing the solution...

I´m sorry, but probably missundertstood. I did not manipulate the Picture. It is a result of a "transformation" with the tool as efe said. If you take each RGB-color-byte of each pixel of the picture (R, G, B, R, G, B, and so on) and write it to an ASCII-file row per row, line by line you ...

but it is not as hard as you think! There ist no need to use any tools. But if it helps - why not.

Only bits, bytes and Text are the "tools" you need.

Overall solved it... But i dont agree to everybody here, who is telling us to use the "easiest" way.

The pure decoding-mechanism (!) of the message is extremely easy - correct. But to examine this, you have to go into many blind alleys...
