but its not just programming, you have to understand operating systems, networking, and how all those things work together, and know how to use programming to manipulate that

ok, so you learn how computers function and react with eachother, then learn how to manipulate that system with programs you write? right? so i just need to continue to learn what i can and try to put the pieces together

i am no vandal. i was just wondering if learning how tools worked would be a profitable approach. i have no interest in hurting peoples belongings. i just wish to be knowledgable.

how do script kiddies become script kiddies?

how can someone with no knowledge hack? why doesnt everyone just start out just using tools and learning how they work?

ok. i got through some of the book. but it jumped from simplistic to advanced really fast, i think i need some more programming and hardware knowledge before i persue anymore. unless anyone can teach me about ports. lol. they tend to be important from what ive read

ill definately check it out. and ive read about the stack and heap memory in C++ books. but never really heard about sockets. and ive heard assembly is pretty basic and simple to learn, so lets bring it on. im eager to learn

well i have ubuntu, and i love it. im just still getting used to it. i shall look into those sites, thanks for the help. right now i can barely use a port scanner but can find open ports and ip addresses, i just dont know how to access the computer afterwards.

the challenges on this site are pretty basic at first, but shoot off into space for me after the first few. and hackthissite i cant do a single mission ive tried. i think i need to learn more about computers themselves. do you think? im willing to take any advice, i really want to learn.
