Greetings

Post by diode »

I'm new to this place, so I thought it would only be proper to take the time to introduce myself in my first message.

I started programming when I was 7 years old in 1989, on the VTech PreComputer 1000. I tend to be very critical of myself. I guess you could say I am new to hacking, in the sense that I don't feel like I have made much progress in finding my way into systems of my choosing during the past several years, although I bypassed the college's internet lock in their CAD lab in about 5.01 seconds, but I didn't really do anything special, their internet lock was laughable. I have always been interested in the craft, but never really had the chance to hang around real wizards. Only recently, right before my graduation from college, did I hang out with someone who actually knew more than I did about computers, and I have learned a lot that I never knew about Linux and other stuff from him.

When I was in college, I took a class on digital electronics. I learned that digital electronics is really nothing more than programming with chips and wires, or conductive trails. The binary nature greatly appealed to me, and inspired me to start drawing schematics for a custom system of my own, although if it actually works, it most likely won't be any faster than systems in the 70s.

I personally feel that I am only mediocre at most of this stuff. I just want to have fun setting up a small network in my room and hacking into it, and my friends and I have been wanting to set up experimental computers for us to practice on.

That's pretty much it. I hope this place is as fun as it looks!
