gps = internet?

Post by athlete501 »

an old pal of mine used to have internet wherever she was for her laptop...she said she took the gps chip or something out of a satellite phone (not cell phone..theres a difference) and she was able to to make an adapter or something and hacked some satellite which gives her internet access...any clues? ideas? hints? solutions? PLEASE REPLY! this would be very interesting! i've heard of a "hackers satellite" where hackers connect to it for phones or w/e but idk..any help is greatly appreciated

thanks

To hack a satellite is pretty hard.
I'm not skilled enough to do it myself. But at least I think I got the basic knowledge on how to do it.

First of all it's not classic software, LAN/WAN hacking.

1) You need to get access to the satellite in some way. (Some electronics from a satellite phone could be very useful here)

2) You need to have at least basic knowledge of how a satellite works (both hardware and software). And catch the sattelite signals, and maybe even send signals to the satellite.
(Where the hell could I get that kind of knowledge? Google?)

3) Then comes the hardcore programming. Make a program that can code and decode satellite signals. No hard programming really. But much time will be consumed in trying to decode the signal, the first time (to get knowledge on how to program the decoder).

4) When you've got an error free connection towards the satellite, you need to keep in mind, that if the guys who own the satellite discovers what you're doing, they're not gonna let you away. (And they can see you on GPS when your transmitting/recieving data from the satellite.)
I really don't know if there's a sequrity system that needs to be bypassed.

5) You need to make the satellite redirekt your signals to some kind of Internet host. (I don't have a clue on how to do that. As told before, you need at least basic knowledge of how a satellite works.)

I don't think it's worth the efforts, if it's even possible.
At least, I can't see any "easy/fast" way to make a satellite give you Internet access.

Also you need to use proxy through someone else computer so they can be blamed on when someone who own the satellite find out. Lol....

If you got caught... ya done for.

I wouldn't do it and stay out of it... and pay for the internet services too.
