Ok I wanted to start a serious chat here on hacker.org is about the safety of our information.

I am Portuguese and I think my own life, my records are safe within European records.

But then I found this site a few months ago: http://www.zabasearch.com/

You can pretty much get any American person's info here. If you read my topic "Wanna have some laughs." you know already that I was trying to talk with a girl in the USA few months ago, that is how I found this site. And it freaked me out because I inserted the chick's name there and it showed me which city she lived, which city she was from and the name of the parents. And for a few bucks I could have everything on the gal. So how much safe is the average American and how safe is the rest of the world? There isn't a zabasearch for Europeans I guess. That is my topic for this chat.
Any opinions?

I searched myself on zabasearch and no result was found but I did find others I know on there

Were you born outside the USA or are you a minor? It is probably it.

Does anyone know the best way to retrieve information on a cell phone number?

And does paying for those cell phone tracker sites for info actually works? or is it just a scam?

I don't really see a problem with this, usually there will be hundreds of others named the same thing across the country.
If you don't want people to have your personal information, fine then don't tell them your name simple as that.
I think this might be a very american issue, where people from other countries would look at it as no big deal. The typical "american freedom man" thinks this is a bad thing.
I don't see how anyone could abuse this.

Now then Mr yeni_ceri, let me tell you this: your information is as safe as you want them to. What do I mean?

So let me ask you this: How much of your info/life are you WILLINGLY let out?
And of course, since this is not SocialMedia.org, but hacker.org, you can always:

-Use public free proxy servers, preferably with lots of traffic, it's a bit slow but makes things difficult for someone
-Use multiple proxy servers (codename: proxychains ) preferably across many countries (preferably not on good terms between them, hence less tracking cooperation and coordination)
-You use wireless? Anyone nearby can hear you. Anyone nearby can try to become Man-in-the-middle. But of course you can use this to your advantage too: Crowded wifi spots can cover you in their traffic
-Change behaviours and break patterns. Change your card's MAC address, hostname, use disposable e-mails, prepaid cards that you can buy on gas stations etc.

This game is one of cat and mouse. If you want to go to the even darker side, you can pwn some boxes and make some private proxy servers for yourself. The more of a ghost you become though, the more you will isolate yourself.

And here comes the unavoidable question: Is this sh!t really necessary? Well, it depends on your point of view. Most people are willing to share their info in excahnge for conveniences, like gossip or online transactions or whatever.

So, which side are YOU on?
