Can't edit first post in 'Challenges Solved' subforum

In the 'Challenges Solved' forum, it is not possible to edit a post you have made when it is the first post in the thread. You will get a message saying "topic already exists". Of course this is nonsense, since I don't want to post a new topic - I want to edit an existing one.

Could the people in charge please fix this? Ah, but who am I kidding - there is nobody taking care of such things.

I would not say nobody cares, any time I've asked for anything or emailed adum, he replied promptly and nicely.

There is no active forum moderator around here. See e.g. the spam posts which do not get removed, and the many questions which do not get answered. That's what I mean with "not caring".

I could understand if adum has no time to read his own forum anymore, due to job/family/private reasons. It is a fact though that a forum needs a moderator, and if adum cannot or does not want to do that anymore, the logical thing to do then would be to appoint somebody else as moderator. For what it's worth, could be several persons (that's how it's handled on pretty much any forum on the web).

and on the lines of friendly, 'bok' means hello in Croatian. On another side note it looks like bok, gesus and adum are admins but adum doesn't have it flagged on his profile.

Inactive admins don't count, for obvious reasons. There needs to be at least one person who actively and regularly does what a forum moderator needs to do: Remove spam, ban spambot accounts, answer legitimate questions posted in the threads, remind people of the forum rules if they don't abide by them.

I think you are imagining some sort of super moderator who keeps the spam away (which is only a nicety really) and remind people of the rules, which are easy enough with the challenges/solved forums. The topics on the forum are a bit of a grey area anyway as there isn't a clear cut definition between small tips to help you on the path you were on anyway and a spoiler which gives something away on these challenges, different people seem to have different expectations on this too as some people think that because they have no idea or can't be bothered then they should be told or ask 101 questions whereas others will get on and do what they can as the challenge.

The question answering part is a problematic thing too as the challenges have been made by a variety of people who may think that their challenge should be taken for what it is, not what others necessarily expect it to be. To be able to answer any question they would have to have solved and be familiar with every challenge which is a bit much to expect.

Non-challenge questions/problems would be for site maintainers (such as adum, who I wouldn't expect to know every challenge of by heart), whom you might expect to just about anything until the site is somehow prefect but to be fair I think that these forums are hardly much incentive for getting work done as it's not really anything socially rewarding - it's just people asking questions of varying quality and some answers/responses of varying quality. I think it's only the seeing/doing of challenges that provides reward on this site which is why they are well kept, and things like fixing the challenges solved first post editing problem go left unattended, especially as it isn't a fatal flaw.

Finally I would say adum is reasonably active on here as I see him on fairly frequently and he has responded and sorted things, I just think you may be expecting too much from people in general but then again I may just think too little of too much.

Okay, and who will fix the existing errors in the challenges?

Who will appoint new deputies when the old ones have left?

And who watches the watchmen? :)

I think adum fixes the challenges if need be, but there doesn't appear to be too much problem with that. Deputies as in moderators? There aren't any and if moderating moderators is what you meant by watching watchmen then that problem doesn't arise without moderators in the first place, if you don't mean that then a lot of people watch the Watchmen movie :P

If anything is remotely important, you can email adum and he will probably respond.
