is it possible to to modfy my dvd player, to play wmv, AVI DIVX, without having to find a good cheap or free converter? i have a crap load of avi files, exc.. i would like play on my dvd player, yet i dont really want to convert avi to dvd or MPEG exc. or do i half to? please dont reply, VGA Cable.

Usually a players ability to read certain formats in encoded in the firmware, so an add on device probably wont help you. Perhaps you could write or get someone to write new firmware and flash the players rom, but this is certainly beyond my skill set. Just a thought for you that may be useful.
