From what I've seen in this forum, most of the people here isn't truly a hacker in the good old meaning of the word.

When I first came accross this site I expected more people in the style of Eric Raymond's definition of a hacker.


Anyway, the puzzles are really fun and there's no harm in that

If you ignore the flood of illiterate n00bs, a good fraction of the users would fit that definition. There just aren't actually that many users.

however...there are a lot wanna-be's here. we have to try to separate the script kiddies and potential hackers. and make sure the potentials go in the right way. and no i cant hack anything big. i can get into any windows system thats sitting in front of me though. its all based on the same concept. i found the way behind it (not hard). i can crash any computer. but everyone knows deleting boot.ini (or the according file) will cause the pc to not work unless you use a repair function through windows cd.. . i'm simple. yet i'm on my way. one thing i dont know how is to program a bunch. i know a lil c++. yet i'm going to a camp this week. going to learn a bunch. so ya.

nbarriga...the real definition of a hacker (well what i believe) is someone that is inspired how things works and tries to find backdoors to it. whether your a lil kid opening up a toy to figure out the components. or an adult modding a car to make it do w/e you want. your a hacker. now thats physical hacking. now there is digital hacking. this is same principle just dealing with technology. and all. so like of all people there are i'd say 50% computer literate. of those people, 30% are advance. of those people, 50% are the true hackers. thats what i'd say. but thats just me

I dont know much about that but..well if u really want to be a cracker i would find a master to teach u.
if u try it on ur own u really will get 5 to 10 in the slammer.then u'll realize ur not as smart as u think u are
