Telecran

Post by wiz1989 »

Hey guys, I'm working on the Telecran challenge atm and tried several approaches like base4 code or symbol frequencies etc. Anyway, my latest idea works with "directions". Could anyone tell if I'm on the right track?
Or if not, do ya have any hints?
I would really appreciate that.

I made a perhaps remarkable detection:
If I copy the area of the sourcecode of the page which contains the pics in a texteditor I get breaks in the list every 17th line.
could sound a little bit paranoid but: could this mean anything? ^^
My problem is: 17 is a prime ...

You should figure out what the title means...

I tried the same things like wiz1989 (without having read his post).. with the same results.
BTW: I did not notice this 17 line phenomenon.. maybe a browser issue?

I did search the net for "telecran" or just "cran".. and found only rubbish.
Is this (another) challenge that is harder to solve if your native language is not english?

Well, I thought the title's just a hint for the Luxembourgian flag... I mean, on the first look, everyone thinks about the Dutch one, don't they?
Or is Telecran more than a paper?

It's been said before that German people will have more trouble with this one...

I'm curious: Why just germans (if it doesn't spoil the answer)?

I guess, because the german Google doesn't show the hint on the first few pages. I also used the german Google and i had to scroll a little bit.

The "thing" telecran refers to is not known with that word in Germany and strangely google seems to filter pages refering to it somehow. If you are German, try to google at google.xx where xx is any other country than de.

I would suggest not to google for it anyway. Especialy being german should show you somehow the reference between the title and a possible solution (you just have to do a "dirty" translation of the title).

Got it. I even know now what a telecran is. It (just) confirmed that I was on the right track.

Well, I finally made it two days ago, and I think the hints in this thread are enough to pass the challenge. especially the post of b0ba and my first one should show you the right track.
