Who said that he wanted to break the law? Maybe he just wants to learn how to disassemble some java code and understand how it works. Just because you guys have a different idea of what a hacker is doesn't mean you have to beat down the new guy because he doesn't fully understand or that you don't fully understand him.

ATM is an asset to receive cash.

this is under the assumption that its an automatic teller machine he's talking about, and he wants to hack it. more than 90% of any population would take this as "jimmying" the system to steal other's cash, so you can see why we're mad at him for coming to us.
