Question about Private Server - Just something to talk about

I wasn't interest in WoW that much, but it raise some question about legal issues of passing out some network packets to the client is illegal or not.

What I refer to packet is to transmit the similar information or format as the Blizzard server would have and it appear that Blizzard said this is illegal. That kind of bothering me that how it can be illegal if it just a simple packet transmission that emulate the server function without any copyrighted material included.

Also this raise some interesting concern about my school if they're doing illegal or legal for making what is called a Private Server and charge the students to have monthly access to it. They charge up to 10 bucks per month.

Just wondering what is legal and what not. Please and thank you for reading this. ;)

it's illegal because it's technically tampering with their server functions without permission

Why would anyone bother to pay ten bucks for a private server at school when you can pay $15 and play with a much wider span of people?

You know... I can't really say, that was really one thing I was thinking about to "backfire" the school's scheme by hosting my own private server at school. But no needs since it is illegal by Paradox better safe than sorry. ^_^

well, if you hos the server at school, its illegal ( I think, i KNOW the school won't like it )

If its at your house then you're good to go, good luck.
