I'm not sure what this challenge wants? Should we try to figure out the functions that generate the numbers or something? But to what end? Do we need to get them in any specific configuration?

I'm not really sure on this problem either. The problem's numerical limitations are easily determined.

I figured I'd eventually work on downloading all possibilities and see if particular number combination gets an unusual response.
If not, I would then have all the numbers to start working on the equations for the numbers to see if anything shows up there. Possibly the constants of the equation are letters to the answer ;)

all i will say is three things:

1) this is possibly my favorite challenge that i've made

2) the name is a big hint

3) the number of items returned is a hint

I found a lot of pairs of inputs that give a particular unusual response, but haven't found much of a pattern to it yet. I presume it's not encouraged to download all the possibilities, otherwise we'd just have been sent a spreadsheet in the first place!

you don't really need to download all the possibilities. it won't give you more information than having a decent sample space.

Does it have anything to do with the song or the movie?

I don't know neither and could solve it.
Maybe it has some relationship, but I would bet not.
