You could always buy a blackbird 002 XD theyŕe about 5000€ XD just kiding
I think with about 700-1600€ you can buy a good pc...(i mean the parts, then you mount the pc).

well if i were you i'd get:

the motherboard depends on the processor you're goind to use...amd for amd...intel for intel....(i kinda don't remeber the names now but if you ask about that they will help you).
(oh yeah almost forgot... if your going to buy a PCI-Express graphics buy an pci motherboard, if you're going agp then it's agp motherboard

Processor: get dual core (or quad core but theyŕe really expensive)

Graphics card: well in this case it depens on you too but i'd recommend ATI graphics card

Ram: about 1gb must be enough

Hdd: i think 300gb are enough

This all will cost you about 1000-2000 € i think

if you wish to build up a much lower cost pc i can talk to a friend and see if he can help

yeah, nvidia only rule for playing game, though ati are good, in games quality nvidia owns

NVIDIA RULES ALL

ati is behind
i own a 8800 gts 640mb and ir kicks ass on all games
funny story with how i got it to0 but ill save that for another time

another thing too ati will soon have there drivers open source for linux so
i just may have to go with them but... thats only if the game programers start wrtting
games for linux



i have 3 systems
one for work
one for high end gaming
and a laptop with Linux Distro-->hacker laptop

so it really depends on what you want to do
you dont need alot of horse power for linux
