If you're still having trouble, you could try the bios back door password

http://www.uktsupport.co.uk/reference/biosp.htm

has some common ones listed. A note about the passwords, on the site it mentions some bios have a security measure to lock you out if you mess up more than 3 times for example. I don't know if you have looked up documentation for your specific mother board, but if you have not that would be something to keep in mind whilst looking through it.

They're not trying to find the bios password. Rather, they're trying to find the operating system password which is unrelated to the bios password.

Indeed you speak truth. One of the ways to extract the passwords was from copying the sam file by way of a live disk right? And his path to this method was blocked by a bios password preventing him from changing the boot order to boot from CD prior to the hard drive, correct?

It would then follow that by having the bios password he could change the boot order, boot from a live CD and copy the required files.

this is a dead thread...quit being a forum necrophilia.

I find it quite interesting that you joined this site less than 24 hrs ago, you have not stats whatsoever at the time of this writing, and your first post is to a thread that has been dead for close to a year now. A more appropriate first post would be to introduce yourself and state your intent in joining the site. Than check the dates on threads before you reply to them. My intent is not to be a complete asshole by simply provide some insight on what may or may not annoy the hell out of other members.

And if you are asking for help on breaking a bios password, you may have less chance of being ignored if you start a new thread since this one is not about cracking bios passwords.

SORRY plope0726

I have a question... Would you not try alternate means to find the password? Many admins use universal passwords for their various accounts, try to use some common sense... Maybe gain router access, and find out the password to that (which you can do without an admin account) ...
Maybe you can try to be human and just ask him for the password, its not like a covert operation ^.^
