Chess

Post by JamesCFraser »

Chess is a pretty classic game, and seeing as computer players are now better than the best human players, I think it'd be nice to see how a computer tournament would pan out. To simplify it, attempts at illegal moves and too long a time taken to make a move can result in a player being disqualified. Seeing as chess is so common, you'll probably find some very useful code without difficulty to do all the validation for you.

Just a suggestion, of course.

Also, I'd love to make applets to battle bots when I have some more free time, if that's welcomed.

chess is indeed a classic, but for this site i'd like to avoid known problems. there are already computer tournaments and i don't think we'd add anything original here.

i'm not sure what you mean by making applets to battle bots, but sounds interesting...

You should probably ignore the comment about applets, then. I'm not very good with the technical side of computers, but I'm okay at problem solving with them (which reminds me, I could do with some instruction on compiling a bot for BitBath and Wormageddon ).

Apart from that, I'd really love to write something which battles the bots. One thing I don't like, for example, is that your maps don't have any symmetry in BitBath, which can give players a disadvantage. I would really like to make a fair game with fair conditions. It'd be interesting.

I thought about chess, and came to the conclusion that it wasn't a good idea as people could just nick algorithms from the net, which is a shame. It lead me to think of a very interesting chess variant for any number of players, though. A normal chess playing algo would be destroyed under it.

i thought about symmetric boards, but i decided i prefer it this way. unfair advantages balance out in the long run anyway, this just increases variance slightly.

Chees AI protoype design

Post by kuyots »

Hello guys! chess is my fav game.. although lots of chess games are uploading in the net now i have an i dea of creating an expert type AI chess prototype. this AI chess protoype has the following components such as the Chess Advisor engine serve as the referee. its function is to check the movement of each player. the we could create our own version of Chess AI player engine and we could play with our Chess AI player Engine.

there is no algorithms - it is just how to play the game in an effective manner...

1) how to kill your king? - Trap it (remove supports like defending/attacking pieces) just like a table with only 1 leg...

:D

Chess is my favourite game!!!
