Neither, I don't take sides. The morality debate is very philosophical and tends to complicate things. The life of a hacker is complicated enough already.

I've read a newspaper TEMPO, Indonesia. It is said that Red Hacker is a hacker who use his / her ability in educational... Maybe he / she teach people and share his / her knowledge to people for good reason.

... Since the message ended with a "LOL" it's much more likely that she/he was trying to make a joke and "red hat" simply meant the linux distro (that now is called Fedora)

I think its not black or white

its either plain hacker

or plain cracker.

working of computer praising your work as art is my way of defining hacking.

while getting what you need as soon as possible either by tool or anyother mean without getting what is actually going on behind the scene is what i call cracking.

No... i don't mean a type of Linux one... I know there are many types of Linux, and one of that is called red hat... But What i mean is red hat hacker.. It's true that red hat hacker is a hacker who share his hacking ability and teach others people, or in other word, hacker who use his hacking ability for education... It is based on what i'd read on the newspaper.

i'm probably gonna get flamed here, but i don't care
who's saying "cracking is not hacking" or "hackers never destroy anything" and so on, are just another lamers, who read some docs about hacking, and don't know much about it...
for real hacker there is no "good" or "bad", there is TRUE or FALSE - what makes sense, and what does not. And he does only and everything that is TRUE - if he needs to fuck up something, he cracks it, if he needs to create something - he creates it
