One layer at a time. If there's only one layer (ie, WEP in general or WPA with a lousy password) it's often easy.

I generally don't, though. If someone has even WEP up they're saying they don't want people using their network. I consider it impolite to actually use their network without their knowledge/permission.

I wouldn't consider it impolite to sniff and crack their WEP passwords, though. Those are publicly broadcasted.
