I used the "Fill With Color"-function in MS Paint.

I wrote a code to replace both colors by white or black and thus read the word.

perfectly readable without manipulating anything if you look at it from the right angle

On my laptop, somehow not really. I used Paint Shop Pro to fiddle with the brightness/contrast, and after trying different settings for some minutes, I was eventually able to read it.

It's nice that there are still some easy challenges now, I also just used mspaint.

javascript + canvas rocks ...
... not the first challenge where this combination was really helpful for me
