Nick is completely clueless, as usual
To the original question:
Somebody thrashed the forum with continuous requests. Who and why I don't know.
Perhaps adum could shed light on this. But in effect it was a DoS attack because the
server couldn't handle the load.
Denying access to urls starting with http://www.hacker.org/forum/viewtopic.php was
a quick and dirty hack to get the rest of the site going again.
But the problem seems to be resolved and we're back to normal again.

I just saw someone made a million requests for this topic:
http://www.hacker.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1775
The reason is still anyones guess... something childish apparently.

That guy had to have a great bandwidth for a DoS attack against a server. I would guess at DDoS, that's more common nowadays. I love that real hackers still show their face... or maybe their shadow here.Zeta wrote:To the original question:

I would guess that this person (based on the thread probably nick ) Used an automated page refresher. But that's probably giving too much credit. Perhaps just sat that clicking the reload button over and over and over. When a social life is non existent, one can find plenty of time to do just about anything.
