i am back again for the hacker.org community with another question, this time it is odd.
ok so 2 weeks ago, ( i am the head admin of my school if you do not know, by reading my other post)
the director/ teacher for the school said that he could not email the school board that the emails would be like a week late and then come back to him, he said that first it was only 1 or 2, now it is all the emails, so i contacted the head of the IT department for the district asking what is going on, he said that he thinks that A: a spammer has gotten in a open port and is attacking email.
B: spam or a virus is being sent in his emails and the filters and not allowing any of my school based email account in or out, and that goes for any account i run, now i started to work on this, but i noticed something else my fire wall rules where changing, such as they would reset back to the factory settings, it is a mac server, i use water roof or manual enter rules to configure my firewall. so anyway, i have had problems with it in the past such as i could not save or extract rules from a file with out it shutting down, so i then changed them back manual, and then they reset again, they keep reseting, then also my en0 connections died but my en1 connections where up, so i change the Ethernet cable for a switch hub i have and right now things are fine in that zone, knock on wood,
but i still and hacking problems with the email and firewall, i have done 3 different virus scanners for the mac and nothing came up, i cant find anything really, so what do you think it could be.

Probably wanting to verify that you really are who you say you are, since many skids are learning social engineering but not how to type properly. If you read back on later posts with everyone flaming out the guy named "a", you can see that his spelling and grammar usage is horrible, and he had a pathetic social engineering attempt or two.

Network Timeout

The server at www.linworth.org is taking too long to respond.

How long has this been going on?

And you say this has been going for two weeks at least? Have you checked your firewall logs assuming they haven't been erased? This might give you an idea as to what is hogging up the network like say an ongoing DoS attack. Also I assume, being the type of school you are, that there is an IT program, It's possible students are behind this.

sorry i have not been on for a while. It is just for linworths network. my logs where erased, that is what kind of got me on a high alert. what i did was pull the networking cable that was feeding my server, went all around my school and turned off the computers and went back to the server cleared out all of my current connections, and was left with one computer using the server, at the start of the year i wrote down all the the ip address's and mac address's, i looked at the list, the computer did not match and i killed it from my network put the network back together and ever thing seems to be working fine, right now my en0 is not going on and off, so it seems stable, now with the fire wall that is another story, i can now make changes and it will not reset it's self but still, it will not save changes, if i restart the server it will erase, and if i try to both though WaterRoof and manually save and up date the start up script it will crash my server, i have always had that problem, but i think you where right about the DoS attack, i already reported the computer to the district (they wanted to report the computer not have me do) i am trying to now figure out how to get the rules to save, but other than that i am going to still look around my server,i figure a few lsof commands and try making my firewall stronger, but thank you for help, if you would like to see the schools IT Department than here is that page on the website, it is old but it is true, sorry about my spelling and English,

Do you guys have a method to re-image the schools computers every so often? If not you should implement some kind of system to do so That way if situations like this occur you can simply re-store all the computers to whatever image and not have to worry about zombies hiding in your network. If you can get something like this implemented you should re-image the machines after like each semester. My school has to do this quite often because the dumb ass students in other programs like to install things like Limewire and fuck up the entire network, taking up bandwidth and just spreading viruses. The school started re-imaging the computers every so often regaurdless in order to safe guard from things like this.
