My goodness, I actually solved it, but unfortunately only by chance...

Any hints on this one? Like, what tool did you use to solve it? I more or less solved the challenge by chance. I have dealt with the basic structure of ELF files and then looked at the structure of the file. Maybe it will also help you to create your own ELF file and compare it with the given one.

I have tried various approaches to decode the signal, even the image file itself seems to give me no indication of the solution. Do you have any hints?
