I think it's almost impossible, that this was pure chance

Did you XOR the whole message for each byte and converted it to char?

Re: Didactic XOR Cipher 2

Hi, The text now says that each character has been xor'd by a byte. I suppose this means that each character is xor'd with the same byte. as it would be an one time pad otherwise, which is proven to be unbreakable, isn't it? Right As a byte can store 8 bits, there are only 8 possible keys? I've tri...

Thank you all for this discussion. It helped a lot to solve this challenge. Once you are on the right track it's not that hard. I just wonder if there are some similiarities to "Lucy in the Sky with Briolettes"

I haven't solved this one yet, but I think it means that the bytes i to i+3 should be xored with k (which is also 4 bytes long).

PS: Do you really think that this challenge is kotze?

Well, I done it by bruteforce. I wrote a short Matlab-script, which manipulated each byte and checked, if there was a readable png. It took about 10 hours. However the picture still seemed to be broken, though the text was readable. Can somebody verify, that the position of the broken byte was at ab...

Could somebody post some useful information, like: - Is the answer contained in the bytes that make up the blue in the image? - Is there any significance to the straightforwardly decoded text, especially the words: 'here', 'look' and 'main'? - Is there any significance to the letters that seem visi...
