I've finally completed this after over half a year of frustration with this challenge! Thanks to one member leading me down the right path, otherwise I might have still been stuck. It wasn't one of the better challenges IMO but the idea was ok. As I thought, I had identified all the songs correctly ...

I found one thing that was wrong in fuzzy dust, but I haven't been able to get anything else out of it yet. I did find something else but that lead to a dead end.

Anyway, to actually answer my own original post I added some links to my first post for things I found from dangermouse's blog.

I was using the tool www.geoplaner.com since it seemed to have an easy to use interface, but now that I see your solution I should have used google earth because geoplaner and google maps don't actually show the actual answer on their maps :evil: I had to refer to other maps to finally figure it out...

I finally solved this thanks to a couple of people and it seems that my original instincts were correct. The only thing that makes me rage was trying to fix the coordinates, I spent way too much time on that because I was fixated on one wrong idea.
